My research projects required me to compile a list of early French patents related to photography. I found myself spending many months reading dusty catalogues and deciphering early manuscripts. In the spirit of helping fellow researchers I decided to produce a compilation of my efforts and share it with the internet community. The notes are in the original French and any volunteer qualified to translate them into English is welcome to do so. Recorded patents range from 1812 (proto-photography) to 1920.
